Vibe-Code Rescue

The demo was magic. The codebase is a liability. We make it a product again.

Exit Code rescues vibe-coded codebases: triaging what works, backfilling characterization tests and CI, fixing critical paths under review gates, and leaving behind the orchestration discipline that keeps the project shippable.

Somebody moved fast — a founder, a contractor, an enthusiastic agent — and now you own the result: it demos beautifully, and nobody can change it without breaking it. No tests, no CI, and the architecture is whatever the model felt like that day. This is now the most common way software projects fail. It is also fixable.

We start with triage: what actually works, what only pretends to, and what the riskiest paths are — written down, ranked, and honest, including the call on whether this is a rescue or a rewrite. Then we stabilize: characterization tests and CI around the behavior you actually have, so nothing regresses silently while we operate. Only then do we fix — critical paths first, worst structures untangled, every change through review gates.

Here's the part that makes us different from a traditional rescue shop: we use agents to fix agent messes. Orchestrated properly — under specs, gates, and CI — agents are exceptionally good at the mechanical bulk of rescue work: backfilling tests, tightening types, chasing dead code. The discipline around them is what your project was missing; watching it applied to your own codebase is the best demo of what we do.

The end state is a codebase you can raise on, hire into, and ship from — plus, if you want it, the orchestration machine installed so speed never costs you correctness again.

01

Who it's for

  • Founders who vibe-coded their way to traction and hit the wall the day real users arrived.
  • Teams that inherited a contractor's — or an unsupervised agent's — codebase and now have to own it.
  • Companies whose AI-built MVP has paying customers, zero tests, and a roadmap it can't survive.
  • Investors and acquirers who need a codebase brought to diligence grade.
02

How it works

01

Triage

We map what exists: what works, what only demos, where the bodies are buried. You get a ranked risk register and an honest verdict — rescue or rewrite — before committing to either.

02

Stabilize

Characterization tests and CI go in around current behavior first, so every change from here is caught if it breaks something real. The bleeding stops before the surgery starts.

03

Restore shippability

Critical paths get fixed, the worst structures get untangled, and every change — human or agent — goes through review gates. Main becomes a branch you can ship from again.

04

Prevent relapse

We leave behind the system, not just the fixes: specs, gates, evals, and orchestration structure so the next feature ships at speed without re-creating the mess.

Agents fixing agent messes

Yes — we use AI agents to clean up after AI agents. The difference is orchestration: specs, review gates, CI, and evals around every change. The discipline your project was missing is the product.

03

What you get

  • An honest written assessment — including “rewrite” if that's the truth.
  • A test suite and CI protecting the behavior your users actually depend on.
  • A shippable main branch and a fixed set of critical paths.
  • Optionally, the orchestration machine that keeps velocity without the wreckage.

Send us the repo, or just describe the symptoms. We'll tell you honestly whether it's a rescue or a rewrite — and what we'd do first.
